Note

Check steering intermediate shaft and coupling for proper movement
Side-to-side movement of the steering gear pitman shaft is normal
Free play at the input shaft until pressure is applied from pump is normal
Inspect hoses for kinks, chaffing and internal restrictions
Install an in-line filter to eliminate potential restrictions
Flush system with approved fluid to remove debris or contamination
Use correct fluid type that meets O.E. specifications
Always replace sealing O-Rings
Tighten couplings, gear mounting bolts and pitman arm to manufacturer’s specs
Perform vehicle wheel alignment
If your car has symptoms like no power steering assist, leaks, clunk noise, excessive play, binding or vehicle drifting, replace the Power Steering Gear Box
