Description:
    Thermal Fan Clutches has a thermostatic valve that allows hydraulic oil to pass the clutch plate when necessary. When the engine temperature changes, the valve will open or close as needed to maintain the proper speed of the fan. Because the clutch is engaged or disengaged when needed, it maximizes fuel efficiency, allows the engine to get the optimum temperature faster, and generally lasts longer than non-thermal clutches.

    Non-Thermal Fan Clutches does not have a thermostatic valve. Instead, the clutch is connected to the shaft of the water pump and is always engaged. The cost of non-thermal clutches is generally lower than that of thermal clutches, so they are often a cost-saving alternative to standard load thermal clutches. However, because they are always in mesh, their fuel efficiency is not high, the engine cannot get the optimal temperature as quickly as possible, and the life is short. If your vehicle was originally equipped with a heavy-duty clutch, you cannot use a non-thermal clutch instead.
