Need More Room for Larger Tires? Raise the Body

If the main goal is a taller stance and more space around the tires, a body lift kit may suit the build.

Designed for compatible body-on-frame trucks and SUVs, the kit uses spacers between the body and frame mounting points. MaXpeedingrods offers application-specific options in heights including 1.25 and 3 inches. Selected kits use fiberglass-reinforced nylon spacers and include the necessary mounting hardware for the intended application.

Because the lift is introduced at the body mounts, the axles, springs and control arms remain largely in their original positions. This makes a body lift useful for a street-driven truck or weekend build where the priority is body clearance for larger tires without reworking the suspension layout.

However, the frame and differential do not rise with the body. If the truck is contacting obstacles beneath the chassis, a body lift alone will not address that issue. Additional differential clearance generally comes from increasing tire diameter.

Already Lifted? Match the Shocks to the New Height

Once a truck has been raised with lift springs, spacers, torsion keys or other suspension components, the factory shocks may no longer match the available suspension travel. A shock that is too short can reach full extension early and restrict droop over uneven roads or trails.

Lift shocks are designed for these modified suspension heights. Depending on the vehicle and mounting position, MaXpeedingrods options cover ranges such as 0–2.5 inches, 2–4 inches, 3.5–6 inches and 5.5–7 inches.

These figures refer to the existing lift range the shocks are designed to match. For example, a shock listed for a 3.5–6-inch lift is intended for a vehicle already operating within that range. A conventional lift shock controls spring movement but does not establish ride height by itself.

Selected MaXpeedingrods Lift Shocks use a high-pressure nitrogen-charged twin-tube design, an 18 mm chromed hardened piston rod and a 35 mm piston. Rubber bushings help absorb vibration at the mounting points, while the application-specific shock length supports suitable compression and extension travel for the lifted setup.

Building for Stance or Suspension Travel?

For additional body clearance around larger tires while retaining the existing suspension layout, consider a body lift kit. If the vehicle already has a suspension lift and the current shocks no longer match its travel, lift shocks are the relevant upgrade.

A build focused on higher frame clearance or greater suspension articulation may require a complete suspension lift and appropriately matched shocks. Before ordering, confirm the vehicle year, drivetrain, mounting position and actual lift height.
